Quick answer: Midthunder is best known for playing Naru in Prey and Kerry Loudermilk in FX’s Legion. In 2026, she appeared in Carrie and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2.

Amber Midthunder Movies and TV Shows at a Glance

Her film career began with childhood appearances before expanding into larger supporting and leading roles. Early credits include Sunshine Cleaning, Swing Vote, Not Forgotten, and Drunktown’s Finest. She later appeared in Hell or High Water, Priceless, 14 Cameras, and Only Mine.

More recent films gave her considerably greater visibility. She played Tantoo in The Ice Road, Albee in The Wheel, and Naru in Prey. Later releases included Dream Scenario, Rez Ball, Opus, and the 2025 action comedy Novocaine.

Her television résumé developed alongside those movie roles. Key credits include Longmire, Banshee, The Originals, Legion, and Roswell, New Mexico. She also appeared in Reservation Dogs, Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender, and newer 2026 productions.

Prey Turned Naru Into Her Signature Movie Role

The 2022 film Prey gave Midthunder one of her biggest leading roles. She stars as Naru, a young Comanche hunter facing an extraterrestrial Predator. The performance placed her at the center of an established Hollywood franchise rather than in a supporting part.

The movie also became one of her strongest-reviewed feature credits. Rotten Tomatoes currently lists Prey among her highest-rated films, alongside Rez Ball and The Wheel. That reception helped make Naru the role most closely associated with her film career.

Prey also demonstrates the physical side of her screen work. Naru must rely on observation, tracking, planning, and combat throughout the story. The role therefore differs sharply from many of her television characters.

Legion Established Her as a Major Television Performer

Before Prey, many viewers knew her as Kerry Loudermilk in FX’s Legion. The Marvel-related series ran from 2017 through 2019, with Midthunder appearing as a main cast member. IMDb lists her across 27 episodes of the series.

Kerry is connected physically and emotionally to Cary Loudermilk, creating an unusual character dynamic. The role required action scenes while fitting the show’s surreal approach to superhero storytelling. It gave the actress a much larger television platform than her earlier guest roles.

The series remains one of her defining television credits. It also came before the larger streaming roles that followed. Readers exploring other long-running screen careers can compare Newsprien’s Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio career profile.

Roswell, New Mexico Gave Her a Longer Character Arc

She joined Roswell, New Mexico as Rosa Ortecho when the CW drama began in 2019. Rosa started as a recurring character before becoming a series regular. The role continued through the show’s fourth and final season in 2022.

That multi-season run allowed more room for character development than a film could. Rosa’s story connects closely with the show’s central mysteries, relationships, and science-fiction elements. The part became one of the most substantial television commitments of her career.

Her work on the series also helped bridge Legion and Prey. During that period, she continued to take on feature-film projects alongside television work. That pattern has continued throughout her career.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Added Another Major Franchise

Netflix viewers saw her as Princess Yue in the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender. According to IMDb, she appeared in three episodes of the first season. Yue is an important Northern Water Tribe character within the larger fantasy story.

The part gave her another recognizable franchise after Prey. It also brought her before a large streaming audience familiar with the original animated series. Her role was recurring rather than a season-long lead.

This period also included Rez Ball, where she played Dezbah Weaver. Rotten Tomatoes lists the 2024 film among her highest-rated movie credits. Newsprien readers interested in another varied television career can also see the site’s Molly Ephraim profile.

Novocaine Put Her Opposite Jack Quaid

In 2025, she appeared opposite Jack Quaid in the action comedy Novocaine. Paramount identifies her character as Sherry, a bank employee taken hostage during a robbery. Nathan Caine, played by Quaid, pursues the kidnappers despite his inability to feel physical pain.

The film mixed romance, comedy, and violent action rather than using a conventional superhero premise. Paramount released the movie theatrically in March 2025. Its current official page also lists the movie for digital viewing.

Sherry is more than a simple extension of Naru or Kerry Loudermilk. The performance sits inside a modern action comedy with a different tone and pacing. That variety has become one of the clearest features of her recent work.

Carrie Is Her Major New TV Role in 2026

Searches for Amber Midthunder’s newest movies and TV shows now bring up Prime Video’s Carrie. The eight-episode adaptation premiered in October 2026 and comes from Mike Flanagan. She plays Rita Desjardin, the teacher who tries to help Carrie White.

The series updates Stephen King’s story for a world shaped by social media and modern school pressures. Coverage of the production has highlighted its focus on cyberbullying and the experiences of present-day teenagers. Midthunder has described her character as a younger educator trying to protect students while finding her own footing.

For viewers following her career in release order, Carrie is especially relevant now. The complete series is available through Prime Video in the United States. Its October release makes it one of her freshest credits as of October 2026.

She Also Joined Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2

Apple confirmed her as a guest star in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2. The second season premiered February 27, 2026, and concluded May 1. Apple identifies her among the season’s additional guest performers.

She plays Isabel Simmons during the Monsterverse series. Current credit databases list the role among her 2026 television appearances. The project adds Godzilla and Kong’s shared franchise to an already broad collection of genre work.

Her recent choices therefore connect several large entertainment properties. She has now worked within Predator, Marvel-related television, Avatar, and the Monsterverse. That record helps explain why searches for her work extend well beyond Prey alone.

Which Amber Midthunder Performance Should You Watch First?

Start with Prey if you want to understand why her profile rose sharply among movie audiences. It places her at the center of the story and gives her substantial dramatic and physical material. The movie also requires no knowledge of her earlier television work.

Choose Legion if you prefer unusual science-fiction television with a longer character arc. Roswell, New Mexico offers an even longer run and a more conventional network-drama structure. Avatar: The Last Airbender works well for viewers seeking a shorter supporting appearance.

For her newest work, watch Carrie after those earlier projects. The role shows her operating inside character-driven horror rather than action-focused science fiction. Novocaine is another useful choice when you want something faster and more comedic.

Newsprien already covers performers with similarly varied screen résumés. Its Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio career guide and Molly Ephraim career profile offer related reading. Both profiles focus on how actors move between film, television, and different career phases.
